Materials Included in Your BD Veritor™ At‑Home COVID-19* Test Kit

 

The BD Veritor™ At-Home COVID-19* Test includes the following components:

  • 1 kit box with tube holder
  • 2 nasal swabs
  • 2 tubes (with liquid) in a foil pouch
  • 2 test sticks

Serial Testing with the BD Veritor™ At‑Home COVID‑19* Test

 

Within a serial testing program, if the first test is negative, a second test must be done between 24 and 48 hours after the first test—which is why each of our kits come with 2 tests.

Important items to consider before or during the test to ensure specimen collection, sample processing, and test results are done correctly.

Dos

  • Download the Scanwell® Health app

  • Select a clean, flat, indoor surface with bright and even lighting to perform the test

  • Clean your smartphone camera lens, turn on your volume for notifications, and charge your battery

  • Wash your hands with soap and water prior to starting

  • Follow the step-by-step instructions in the app

  • Take the test in a well-lit area or close to a bright light source, with the light source positioned in front of you

  • Make sure the full scan card is visible on the screen when scanning and that your smartphone is not tilted

  • Move the scan card away from the light source if there is a glare on the scan card or test stick while scanning and reposition it if there is a shadow

  • Move to a new location with better lighting if you are unable to scan your result

Don'ts

  • Begin the test unless you have 20 minutes to complete all of the steps correctly; if this is your first test, allow for extra time

  • Open any of the test kit materials before the app instructs you to do so

  • Stay in the same location if you are having trouble scanning; try moving to a new area and lighting environment

  • Perform the test in a cluttered space

  • Try to scan under ceiling lights as overhead lights can lead to faint shadows or uneven lighting

  • Perform the test on children under the age of 2

  • Close or quit the Scanwell® Health app during the test before receiving your result

  • Throw away the box until you have completed your second test

What your BD Veritor™ At-Home Test

Results Mean

 

COVID-19: Antigen Negative

 

A negative test result means that you are unlikely to have COVID-19. It is possible for the test to give a negative result that is incorrect (false negative) in some people with COVID-19, especially if you have symptoms or had close contact with a person with COVID-19.

 
 

COVID-19: Antigen Positive

 

A positive test result indicates that you are very likely to have COVID-19. There is a very small chance that the test can give a positive result that is wrong (a false positive result), especially if you do not have symptoms or have not had close contact with someone with COVID-19.  

 

Invalid

 

If you receive an invalid result, an error occurred so a result could not be reported, and you should follow the next steps outlined in the app.

 

The most common reasons for an invalid result are not collecting enough specimen from your nose or applying too little liquid to the test stick.
